2010: Our Buddies

Our buddies are Year 4 and 5 students from Room 13. Their teacher, Karen Roger, sends a number of students down to our class every Friday at 11AM. Our buddies support us on the mat during the introduction of the Big Book. Afterwards they help us trace over some high-frequency words and then we draw and colour a picture together.

2010: Our Threading Toys

Mrs. Inggs taught us how to make a threading toy. This is what we did:
  • we chose a picture, then we coloured it in.
  • we laminated our pictures
  • we hole punched the outer edge of our pictures
  • we tied a length of string through the first hole, then
  • we threaded the string in and out the holes all the way around our pictures.
We have displayed our pictures on the window, so that we can take them down and practice threading over and over again.

2010: Juliet and Genevieve

We sadly had to say goodbye to Franky, our pet rat last week. He was diagnosed with bronchitis in Term 1 and was prescribed a course of antibiotics. He never did fully recover, and slowly deteriorated, despite having been so well looked after by all the students. The vet agreed that he was in a lot of pain, and that it would be best to put him down.

Our two new class pet guinea pigs, Juliet and Genevieve have filled the hole that Franky left.

We then tried to balance the table tennis balls on our bats, and later bounced the balls gently on our bats. During our second session, we moved on to the table tennis tables. We had so much fun!
